About Me

I own a couple of cameras & use them occasionally.

I’ve always had a camera or two around me. When I was a kid, my dad owned a Nikon L35AF film camera, which I was allowed to use occasionally at family events. When the Nikon started having technical issues, my mum got us a Minolta film camera (I’ll update the model name when I get the chance), which was pretty ok. I still keep both of these cameras.

Through the later part of my teens and into my early twenties, I entered the world of digital cameras with a series of point & shoots. And in trying to keep with tradition, they were all Nikons. I do not remember the model numbers, but they were from the Coolpix family, which are pretty average & do a good enough job, nothing to brag about really.

In late 2011, I managed to save some money & decided to invest in a DSLR. Not having saved too much money tho, I looked for a bargain & managed to procure an entry-level Canon EOS 1100D + the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 DC III kit lens (this camera deserves it’s own write up). Though it was only a baby DSLR, I did more with the 1100D, than most others did with cameras that were much more expensive than mine (yes, it had to be said).

I also built a small collection of Canon & Sigma lenses, my favourite being the Canon 50mm f1.8 & the Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM.

In the second half of 2019, I felt the need to enter the more compact world of the Mirrorless camera. I found an amazing bargain on a Fujifilm X-T20 + XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS lens, at the local dealership. I had never experimented with a Fujifilm X Series & decided it would be a fun learning experience.

The Fujifilm is my most advanced camera to date and by far the most fun to work with.

Since I own a decent collection of Canon DSLR lenses, I do plan on returning to the DSLR world in the near future, but with an upgraded Canon body.

But for now Fujifilm will do.
